Public Health

Public health is the science of protecting and improving the health of people and their communities. This work is achieved by promoting healthy lifestyles, researching disease and injury prevention, and detecting, preventing and responding to infectious diseases.  Public health often intersects with the medical/healthcare system, behavioral health, and environmental health.  The function of public health is to Inform, educate, and empower people about health issues. Mobilize community partnerships and action to identify and solve health problems and develop policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts.
